GM Retirement Programs

For more than 30 years, Lifetime has helped employees of the automotive industry prepare for their next chapters with confidence. We provide guidance for both the financial and non-financial aspects of successfully transitioning from an automotive career into retirement or to another job.

Initially, our “Life after…” seminars were offered at General Motors as part of a six-week course conducted in coordination with REPS (pre-Retirement Educational Planning Service) and with the help of REPS president Nester Cole. Those programs were sponsored by GM for pre-retirees and focused on preparing them and their families for a smooth transition into and throughout the retirement years.

The “Life after…” program has continuously evolved over the past three decades and has expanded to include employees from Ford, Chrysler/FCA, and employees of Michigan Schools.  We have traveled to GM’s Desert Proving Grounds and to Fort Meyers, Florida, in order to share the latest financial tools, warn of potential pitfalls, and bring attention to issues such as long-term life planning and cyber-security.

Some recent programs include:

  • Lump Sum vs. Monthly Checks?
  • Bob Lutz: The World is Changing
  • What Happens If the Lights Go Out at GM?

Our mission has always included and will continue to include the tenets of our very first programs – to provide valuable and useful information relating to the steps required prior to and during retirement.

If you have any retirement questions or concerns, financial or otherwise, or just want an objective review of your retirement strategies, contact us for a complimentary review.  We’re confident that with our nearly 200 years of collective experience we’ll be able to provide some valuable insights.
